About the Role
Seeking an outstanding engineer to support system-level Power Distribution Network (PDN) design, analysis, and validation for Mac and Accessory products. This role requires deep knowledge of PDN design, analysis, and validation methods, working with multi-functional teams to design and implement power supply network solutions, validate impedance and droop targets, and verify power supply quality through lab and in-situ silicon measurements.
Responsibilities
- Perform pathfinding studies in the silicon development phase, providing feedback on system integration tradeoffs to silicon and packaging teams.
- Complete target impedance analysis, transient voltage droop, and phase margin/stability analysis.
- Guide and collaborate with the system team on component selections for optimal power solutions under various load and performance states.
- Work with System Design teams to provide detailed layout strategy and guidelines during the design execution phase.
- Collaborate with HW Validation teams to develop test-suites for system-level validation and evaluation of design margins on power domains.
- Provide power integrity support throughout the product design process, including system pathfinding, verification stages, and characterization reviews through production and ramp.
Requirements
- M.S. Degree with 4-7 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven technical understanding of power supply architectures, including voltage regulator technologies, PDN modeling, and PCB design practices for PDN design and optimization.
- Proficiency with tools for 2.5D (PowerSI, SIWave, Sentinel-PI, nSys), 3D Full wave (HFSS, nWave), and quasi-static (Q3D, nApex) analysis.
- Relevant proven understanding of HSPICE, Spectre, AMS, and Simplis models for system-level transient droop analysis.
- Understanding of die-package-board power delivery network co-design constraints and tradeoffs.
- Ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams to make system performance tradeoffs.
