About the Role
Product Engineer providing technical leadership for filter and substrate products in the automotive industry. This role maintains global product specifications and manages change requests to maximize Corning’s value and support product line goals. The position focuses on collaborating with Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to align technical efforts with product requirements, business priorities, and customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with development, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and the customer to ensure global product specifications meet stakeholder needs.
- Proactively identifies and resolves customer issues, assisting applications engineers with product support.
- Assesses the impact of proposed changes on product performance and ensures transparency to the customer.
- Gathers prioritized customer product requirements to inform global product specifications and justify quality architecture.
- Leads projects to implement effective processes that improve business practices.
- Translates technical learning into product specifications, process windows, qualification plans, and manufacturing transfer requirements.
- Develops product roadmaps aligned with internal plans and external requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
- 5+ years of work experience in a related field.
- Ability to define product requirements, evaluate performance trade-offs, and connect material/process variables to customer-facing product attributes.
- Strong data analysis skills and ability to use experimental results to guide design decisions, qualification plans, and product readiness.
- Experience with planning and executing experiments in a team environment.
- Ability to strategize and think critically about product-development pathways, technical risks, scale-up needs, and manufacturability and cost.
