About the Role

Advance and support the development of electric drive (E-drive) control system components for the All Electric Navy, contributing to the development, integration, testing, and delivery of cutting-edge electric drive propulsion system components for the COLUMBIA Class and beyond. This role involves internal research and development, focusing on component design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasking centric to component design through internal research and development.
  • Document code and contribute to engineering/design reports for distribution to external stakeholders.
  • Prepare for peer review by creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and demonstrating them to other members of the team.
  • Document test cases and create effective and focused testing plans.

Requirements

  • B.S. or B.E. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 or more years post-graduate engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the U.S. DoD (candidates must be a U.S. citizen).
  • Experience in requirement analysis, hardware/software design, software development and test, hardware/software integration.
  • Software, embedded software development experience in C, C++, Assembly, or Python.
  • Experience in selection of commercial-off-the-shelf and custom components and circuit/processing cards to support rapid prototyping and demonstration of system functionality.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard serial (RS-232/422/485, I2C, SPI) and high-speed serial protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, SRIO, etc.) and experience with fiber-optic communication systems.
  • Experience working in bare-metal and multi-process environments.
  • Experience with Xilinx, Microsemi, Texas Instruments, and Intel product lines and offerings.
  • Experience with Visual Studio, QT, Jira, Git.

Skills

  • Controls rapid prototyping via auto-code generation.

  • Ability to function as a member of a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard serial (RS-232/422/485, I2C, SPI) and high-speed protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, SRIO, etc.).

  • Detailed understanding of how to properly document test cases.

  • Familiarity with Agile development.

Location

  • Domestic travel may be required.
