About the Role
The Lead Quality Engineer leads the local Quality team in providing quality solutions to promote supplier conformance and customer satisfaction. This role is the primary contact for ISO 9001/AS9100 and customer audits, process improvement projects, and driving efficiencies, safety, and cost reduction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure Quality procedures are current and followed consistently.
- Exhibit a high regard for customer satisfaction and supplier partnering.
- Lead or facilitate Company Quality and Process Improvement projects.
- Represent the Quality Department in customer and vendor meetings.
- Liaison with 3rd party registrar for ISO 9001 & AS9100 audits and customer audits.
- Provide guidance on Product Compliance (ROHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, TSCA).
- Process Customer Complaints in Sales Force.
- Enter data for trend analysis for Customer Returns, Corrective Actions, and complaints.
- Synchronize all supplier returns with Quality Coordinator.
- Provide guidance to Coordinators in filling out Quality Surveys.
- Identify cost saving opportunities using Quality Data and work with functional owners to reduce costs.
- Verify the effectiveness of ISO Quality Audits, Action Items, Customer Complaints, and corrective actions.
- Assist with trend analysis for audits, customer returns, corrective actions, and customer requests/complaints.
- Ensure proper inspection requirements are in place based on inventory problems.
- Assist with the analysis of cost of non-conformance and suggest improvements.
- Conduct Supplier Quality audits to improve supplier performance.
- Lead Internal audits and ensure compliance to ISO9001 & AS9100 standards.
- Compile, analyze, and report data regarding customer returns, corrective actions, and customer complaints.
- Act as the point person for supplier development program.
- Take an active role in best practice auditing exercises.
- Generate action items from audit findings and partner to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of non-conformities during internal audits and subsequent actions.
- Ensure customer requests & complaints are managed to satisfaction and completion.
- Report status of projects and programs to Quality management.
- Develop teams to assist in project development and completion.
- Investigate employee suggestions, ideas, and concepts.
- Participate on cross-functional teams for continuous improvement of methods, processes, productivity, and quality.
- Provide technical support to employees and customers regarding quality, UL & CSA labeling.
- Perform internal audits at company facilities as required.
- Complete and maintain all required records, files, paperwork, and documentation.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Maintain equipment calibration records and schedules.
- Present quality briefings to new and current employees.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
- 1+ years of SAP configuration preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and an ability to obtain a passport.
- Certified Quality Auditor certification or equivalent.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and business information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work in a Windows environment, with department business applications and standard current computer applications, including SAP.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Regularly required to sit and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally exposed to a Distribution Center or manufacturing environment and outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles.
- Occasionally exposed to a noise level ranging from moderate to high.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally required to perform work related travel.
