About the Role
The LCRA System Protection & Controls (SCADA) group is seeking a motivated individual to install, commission, maintain, and repair SCADA monitoring and control equipment in substations across the LCRA service territory. This role provides technical support for SCADA systems development and implementation, requiring structured work assignments and guidance from experienced colleagues. The position is full-time with potential for overnight stays, overtime, and call-outs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and manages complex projects involving LCRA System Operations, Generation, LCRA Engineering, LCRA Telecommunications, and LCRA Network Services.
- Serves as field point of contact for all SCADA related coordination.
- Performs complex testing, installation and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems including RTUs, input/output signal hardware, controllers, HMI, networks, communication, database and software.
- Provides expertise in the monitoring, troubleshooting, and programming of the SCADA and communication systems.
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in the construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, SCADA, diagnostic, metering, monitoring and/or control systems, or relevant experience.
- A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license
Skills
- Knowledge of substation equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical control, metering and protective relaying schemes.
- Knowledge of Remote Terminal Units, Revenue Meters and Protective Relays.
- Knowledge of network/LAN operations.
- Knowledge of communications protocols (ex: Harris, Modbus, SEL and DNP 3.0).
