About the Role

The Coordinator for Instructional Services will lead, direct, and supervise center instructional programs, functions, and staff. This role involves planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and programs to ensure effectiveness and enhance development. The position also oversees instructional budgets, faculty development, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, directs, and supervises center instructional programs, functions and staff
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates curriculum, programs, instruction, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Establishes standards and procedures for instructional activity and record keeping
  • Oversees and monitors procedures, operations, and record keeping systems for compliance
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, development, assignment, evaluation, retention and promotion of faculty and instructional support staff
  • Promotes the professional development of employees and recommends in-service training
  • Directly supervises program coordinators, counselors, tutors and instructional staff
  • Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional personnel
  • Responsible for overseeing the timely submission and accuracy of time sheets for instructional staff
  • Adheres to and implements the terms and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
  • Meets regularly with Program Coordinators, faculty, and other academic support staff
  • Coordinates instructional budget preparation and supervises the instructional budget
  • Reviews and recommends approval of requisitions for instructionally related purchases
  • Ensures adequate instructional equipment, supply, and textbook availability
  • Develops procedures and maintains records for budget control
  • Works in conjunction with other administrative staff in facilitating budget areas
  • Develops and coordinates long range and strategic planning
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the master schedule, program and course descriptions
  • Works in conjunction with other administrative staff to ensure coordination of schedules and programs
  • Monitors weekly enrollment data and makes recommendations for course offerings and modifications
  • Works in conjunction with other administrative staff in developing procedures for data tracking and submission
  • Conducts research and compiles reports as required
  • Responsible for preparation of all Instructional Program Proposals
  • Works in conjunction with the Vice President/Executive Director and other administrative staff to ensure mission, goals, and objectives are met
  • Works in conjunction with other administrative staff on student recruitment, admission, registration and retention
  • Works in conjunction with other administrative staff in the preparation, development and implementation of new instructional program proposals
  • Responsible for coordinating the instructional program with all other center departments
  • Establishes supportive networks between faculty and other staff
  • Develops and maintains favorable, cooperative and active relationships and/or partnerships with community, civic, business, industry, SUNY central administration and other educational organizations
  • Provides evening supervision for the instructional program and for the total management of the EOC in rotation with other center managers
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education or other related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the field of Education, and non-traditional education
  • Three (3) years administrative or faculty supervision experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication both written and oral
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with academically and economically disadvantaged adults
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and affirmative action
