About the Role

As a key member of the Humber River Family Health Team (HRFHT), the Chiropodist will provide a full range of quality foot care to all HRFHT patients, including active treatment of acute pathological foot conditions, surgical procedures, and preventive & palliative foot care.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of foot disorders or dysfunctions and treatment using therapeutic, orthotic, or palliative means.
  • Differentiate between disorders of the foot arising from systemic disease and those arising from local, structural, or functional disorders.
  • Recognize conditions beyond scope of practice and refer to other appropriate health care professionals.
  • Design and implement management plans based on presenting conditions and patient needs, reinforcing patient responsibility.
  • Communicate foot health education to patients, Interprofessional health care professionals (IHPs), and other concerned individuals.
  • Ensure appropriate antiseptic techniques, safe procedures, and isolation practices are maintained.
  • Plan for future clinics to meet HRFHT clinical goals and objectives, aligning with the mission and vision.
  • Ensure safe working practices and satisfactory operating condition of all clinical equipment.
  • Maintain and upgrade knowledge and skills through relevant seminars and educational programs.
  • Prepare quarterly reports and monitor daily statistical data.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of chronic disease, health promotion, and illness prevention programs and services.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. and licensing/registration by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proven flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
  • Computer skills.
