About the Role
Thought Machine is seeking Engineering Managers to lead complex technical projects, manage talented engineers, and contribute to the vision and strategy of their platform area. The role involves a blend of engineering management and hands-on technical work, with a focus on enabling internal teams to solve business problems using AI tooling.
Responsibilities
- Actively participate in technical discussions and design reviews.
- Take a data-driven approach to measure team impact.
- Understand internal teams' needs and challenges to identify solutions.
- Contribute to the vision and strategy of the platform area, aligning with broader goals.
- Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as part of the engineering management team.
- Develop engineers in the team and support their career development.
- Lead by example through code reviews and hands-on technical work.
- Champion industry best practices and emerging trends.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in engineering management for platform teams including AI tooling.
- Experience in a cloud-native environment with modern technology stacks (Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure, golang/python).
- Technical background to drive technical decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for user communication.
- Comfort working with a high level of responsibility and autonomy.
- Experience developing platforms and tools for other engineers.
- Experience leading an AI-first team driving organizational change (Desirable).
- Experience working in or managing internal platform teams (Desirable).
- Experience helping recruit and shape engineering teams (Desirable).
- Experience in defining and evaluating effective team processes (Desirable).
- Experience working in a hyper-growth environment (Desirable).
