About the Role
Event Medical Dispatchers are needed to support CrowdRx medical operations at New York Road Runners (NYRR) events. This role involves coordinating and dispatching EMS and clinical resources at special events, potentially supporting patient care and customer service. Opportunities to travel to national events are also available.
Responsibilities
- Understand and implement Emergency Medical Dispatch principles.
- Track incidents in the venue’s incident management system.
- Operate telecommunications and two-way radio equipment.
- Communicate with public safety agencies for resource coordination.
- Escalate public health/safety concerns to venue staff and management.
- Allocate EMS resources based on decision-making rules and protocols.
- Coordinate emergent and non-emergent patient transport.
- Track noteworthy incidents using the ICS 214 form.
- Provide on-site BLS or ALS level care based on certification.
- Respond calmly and professionally to emergency calls.
- Utilize medical equipment for patient care.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of shift-related paperwork.
- Maintain uniforms, response gear, and personal protective equipment.
- Keep required state certifications/licenses current.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Travel to festivals and special events as part of the communications team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- AHA/BLS Provider CPR Certification required.
- Current and valid New York State EMT certification or higher required.
- Company-approved CPR certifications required.
- Driver’s License required.
- ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications at time of application.
- ICS 300 and 400 within two months of hire (if required by manager).
- Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification or State Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic certification required.
- Two (2) or more years of experience as an EMS provider preferred.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Telecommunications experience or at least one year's experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher.
- Effective customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Working understanding of Special Event Dispatching.
- Ability to travel to the venue.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
