About the Role

As an On Street Operative in our Micromobility – Citizen Services team, you’ll help keep London’s cycle hire scheme running safely and efficiently. Your work will have a direct impact on the experience of thousands of people every day by carrying out routine bicycle and e-Bike maintenance and ensuring bikes are available where customers need them most. Our work touches lives across the capital, supporting sustainable travel and helping communities make greener journeys.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine on-street maintenance, functional checks and basic repairs on bicycles and e-Bikes across the cycle hire scheme.
  • Replace and transport e-Bike batteries to maintain bicycle availability and meet customer demand.
  • Operate an e-Cargo Bike or e-Van to support battery distribution and operational activities.
  • Lock in and release bicycles at docking stations, ensuring roadworthy bikes remain available for customers.
  • Complete accurate electronic logging of work, parts usage and battery movements using mobile devices.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond professionally to questions from customers, clients and members of the public.
  • Follow all health and safety, security, environmental and operational procedures while reporting any faults, risks or incidents.
  • Complete and pass a 3-day e-Cargo course as part of your onboarding.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Confidence riding a bicycle in a busy urban environment.
  • Ability to pass an e-Cargo Bike assessment.
  • Comfortable using mobile devices and digital systems to record work accurately.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team targets.
  • Understanding of the importance of health and safety.
  • Pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • This role requires a Basic DBS check.
  • Will complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire.

Work Type

  • 40 hours per week
  • 4-6 days per week including weekends
  • 7-day shift patterns working 7am to 3.30pm or 11am to 7.30pm

Salary/Compensations

  • £30,784 pro rata
