About the Role

The Field Service Technician will perform routine service and maintenance for installed 3rd Eye products, including onboard computers, cameras, monitors, radar systems, and vehicle cabling. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, providing technical information, performing field service, and assisting customers with product-related issues. Responsibilities also include reporting on warranty and product quality, visiting customer sites in the waste and recycling industry, and potentially installing additional 3rd Eye products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine service and maintenance for installed 3rd Eye products.
  • Troubleshoot equipment in person and via telephone.
  • Provide general and technical information to customers.
  • Perform field service work and assist customers with problems.
  • Complete reports on warranty and quality of manufactured products.
  • Visit customer sites in the waste and recycling industry according to a provided schedule.
  • Install additional 3rd Eye products at customer sites as needed.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Support local area sales representatives with clinics and events.
  • Prepare and test all equipment for product demonstrations.
  • Attend required training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on research and development of new equipment.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Attend trade shows and customer events as required.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Requires a High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand general arithmetic.
  • Ability to write in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to understand verbal or written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and lists.
  • Ability to operate personal computer, smartphone, and tablet based technologies.
  • Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate near moving vehicles and machinery approximately 100% of time.
  • Requires walking/standing approximately 50%.
  • Requires repetitive lifting of equipment during installation approximately 20% of the time.
  • Involves repetitive overhead work approximately 20% of time.
  • Involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 10% of time.
  • Requires use of hands, arms and feet for continuous movement in and out of vehicles.
  • Requires use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment while working on vehicles.
  • Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes.
  • Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety.
  • Color and depth perception required.
  • Exposure to field environments with dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
  • Must be very self-motivating, proactive, and have a self-starter personality with a “can do” attitude looking to be a team player.
  • Must have the ability to work independently while following direction from remote management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of company provided service van including all associated tools and product inventory.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with customers via phone and in person.
  • Quickly become a subject matter expert on all company product lines, kits, and accessories.
  • Must be detail oriented with a thorough approach to note taking and documentation.
  • Must have a driver’s license and be insurable and bondable.

  • 5 years plus combined experience in general automotive, commercial electronics, and waste recycle industry vehicle knowledge
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in 12 Volt automotive knowledge
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with general knowledge of automotive equipment
