About the Role

The CAP Plumber Supervisor will provide the CAP mechanical construction operations group with planning, scheduling, and installing plumbing equipment, pipe fitting, and underground utility installations on multi-million-dollar Force Account construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects. This role involves offender labor force construction trade training and supervision, project management, coordination with other trade groups, tool/equipment/material procurement, scheduling inspections, and overall construction project evaluation.

Responsibilities

Provide planning, scheduling, and installation of plumbing equipment, pipe fitting, and underground utility installations.
Train and supervise offender labor force in construction trades.
Manage and coordinate construction projects with other trade groups.
Procure tools, equipment, and materials.
Schedule project inspections.
Evaluate and monitor construction projects.
Review and interpret construction designs, plans, and specifications.
Coordinate construction installations for new construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects.

Requirements

Journeyman level plumbing trade skills.
Strong construction supervision skills.
Efficient decision-making capabilities.
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both verbally and in writing.
Journeyman level plumbing construction experience within commercial, institutional and or governmental construction projects.
Working knowledge of plumbing equipment, piping, and underground utilities.
Knowledge and understanding of NC Plumbing Codes and industry standards relating to OSHA, accepted construction industry standards, UL standards, etc.
A valid NC Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of journey level plumbing experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission based on the nature of work performed.

About the Company

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees.

The Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) operates as the NCDAC Capital Project Coordinator (CPC) and is tasked with coordinating all capital improvement and renovation and repair projects with the State Construction Office (SCO).
DECM serves as the DAC representative on all matters involving the State Property Office and State Building Commission.
DECM provides architectural and engineering support, sustainability, efficiency, and resiliency planning, construction, and maintenance services.
Ensures all statewide Institutions and Facilities remain in compliance with building codes, regulations, and legislative mandates.
Promotes the agency’s rehabilitation and reentry goals through offender job training within the construction and maintenance trades.
Assists institutions directly and indirectly with the installation and maintenance of kitchen, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and electronics equipment.
