About the Role

The Diagnostic X-Ray Technologist I provides prompt, efficient, and courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs. This role is patient-focused and dedicated to making a difference in improving patient health and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient, courteous services to patients while taking high-quality radiographs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets information to identify patient needs and provide care.
  • Provides high quality test results in a prompt and accurate fashion.
  • Maintains an excellent quality of x-ray radiographs with a minimum of a 5% repeat rate.
  • Provides fluoroscopic assistance to the Radiologists, including setup, preparation of materials, and patient positioning.
  • Prepares, identifies, and/or administers medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Performs radiographic examinations as requested and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Transports patients to and from the room when required.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Radiology students.
  • Provides a safe environment for patients.
  • Explains all procedures to patients and answers questions or concerns.
  • Provides coverage for the OR, ER, and portables in addition to fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Maintains an adequate level of inventory in all rooms within diagnostic Radiology.
  • Restocks supplies within rooms.
  • Cleans and organizes x-ray rooms after patient use.
  • Performs daily checklists for safe patient care and regulatory readiness.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Maintains competence through continuing education.
  • Maintains appropriate continuing education credits to keep up licensure.
  • Attends necessary meetings to keep up with changes within the department.
  • Attends monthly department meetings.
  • Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school.
  • New graduates accepted.
  • NYS temporary permit/license required.
  • ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist with 180 days from date of hire required.
  • NYS registered as a Radiologic Technologist within 180 days from date of hire required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Heavy work exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs, of force constantly to move objects.
  • Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, stooping, fit testing.
  • Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
  • Constant typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use.
  • Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, radiation/radiant energy.
  • Occasional noise.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
