About the Role

Responsible for performing various shipping and receiving tasks, including preparing documents and verifying quantities for shipment, serving as backup to the Shipping Supervisor, and collaborating with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Check area for safety, cleanliness, and mechanical problems at shift start.
  • Operate forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain forklift daily, including inspections and reporting needed repairs.
  • Operate forklift, pallet jacks, shrink wrap machine, and bander daily.
  • Plan daily runs for local outbound customer orders in coordination with the shipping supervisor.
  • Call carriers for pickup and PRO freight as needed.
  • Prepare computer-generated or manual bills of lading.
  • Prepare documentation for export orders.
  • Verify product quantities, destination, and routing against customer orders.
  • Ensure products are loaded onto trailers safely and timely.
  • Ensure quality product is shipped, with proper banding, load tags, and pallet condition.
  • Clean out trailers when necessary.
  • Receive and unload incoming materials, compare packing slips with PO, and inspect for damages.
  • Account for all bills of lading, run daily reports, and file documents.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts at plant and warehouse as needed.
  • Assist with warehouse duties including shipping, receiving, and maintaining item rotation.
  • Enter work orders/notifications into the system.
  • Receive into HRMS and SAP, ensuring accuracy.
  • Lead, guide, and train employees performing related work.
  • Perform end-of-shift cleanup.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the shift.
  • Enter maintenance work orders in SAP.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state-registered GED preferred.
  • Forklift operation certified with at least 2 years of forklift experience.
  • Stable work history.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to direct and train employees.
  • At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified (preferred).
  • Experience with loading/unloading and warehouse duties (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime and some Saturdays when scheduled.
  • Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.
  • Ability to handle an average weight of 10-15 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work around moving mechanical parts.
