About the Role
The Wellness Coordinator will design, coordinate, and facilitate wellness activities to support the health, well-being, and recovery goals of youth and young adults. This role involves building community partnerships, leading workshops, and ensuring initiatives are holistic, inclusive, and youth-centered, fostering resilience and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate recovery and wellness activities, including workshops, support groups, fitness, mindfulness, and creative arts.
- Coordinate partnerships with vendors for in-kind or fee-based support, managing administrative and partnership logistics.
- Facilitate wellness and recovery groups for diverse individuals facing challenges such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance use, or trauma.
- Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to enhance participants' quality of life, health, and wellness.
- Collaborate with staff to integrate wellness practices into daily programming and events.
- Participate in outreach opportunities to engage individuals unfamiliar with LifeWorks services.
- Plan, develop, and provide presentations and outreach on topics like harm reduction, substance use, mental health promotion, trauma, recovery, and community resources.
- Create and maintain a calendar of events and activities, and coordinate the creation and distribution of marketing materials.
- Gather feedback on participant satisfaction and suggestions, and provide support during scheduled activities for logistics, emergencies, or unexpected situations.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with agency staff and community contacts, including referral sources and service providers.
- Maintain up-to-date online documentation of client services and contacts in the agency database.
- Comply with all requirements from funding sources, licensure, accrediting bodies, the program, and the agency.
- Maintain approved supervision and continuing education.
- Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to assist clients in mental or emotional crisis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a GED or HS Diploma.
- Requires 1 year of related individual and group peer support experience.
- Requires obtaining certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) within 9 months of hire.
- Requires lived experience with trauma.
- Requires lived experience with substance use or mental health challenges.
- Requires a record of maintaining own recovery over the past 2-year period.
- Experience with databases.
- Proficient level experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
