About the Role

Operates, inspects, and services plant equipment usually contained in a nuclear power plant.

Responsibilities

  • Operates manually controlled equipment and remotely controlled equipment from locations other than the central control room.
  • Determines operating status of equipment from previous shift personnel and log entries.
  • Checks cause of operating problems and reports to supervisor.
  • Maintains a log recording unusual events and changes in operating conditions.
  • Provides direction and operations training of all personnel.
  • Perform fire protection duties such as response to fire, rescue, hazardous material incidences, first aid requirements, logs and record keeping.
  • To be assigned as needed to support decon, housekeeping, painting work and other duties as assigned by the Company.
  • Performs emergency response duties as assigned.
  • Requires the completion of the Equipment Operator qualification book.

Requirements

  • Must meet the ANSI standard for this position.
  • Must have the ability to read basic diagrams and prints.
  • Must pass required NRC license physical examination.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of this position.
  • Must pass the POSS and BMST.
  • May be subject to certification and recertification with periodic reviews if required by NRC or industry standards.
  • Must meet requirement of NRC psychological testing regulations.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access Training and complete the Radiation Safety Training including Respirator Qualifications and maintain unescorted access.
  • Must complete fire brigade member qualifications based on operational needs.
  • May be required to obtain CPR certification based on operational needs.
  • Must complete Radwaste Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.

Experience Level

  • 1 year of technical experience in power production, petrochemical or other industrial process plants during operational, maintenance, design, or training activities.
  • 1 year of relevant experience including operation and maintenance of equipment, such as HVAC, electrical and maintenance technicians.
  • 2 years of experience in operations or maintenance of a non-generating nuclear power facility (e.g. Navy Nuclear operations or maintenance training/experience or operations or maintenance experience at a DOE facility).

Education Level

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science program.
  • An Associates of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology or related science program.
  • 43 credit hours of post-secondary education of which 75% (at least 8 courses or 32 hours) is advanced math, physics, chemistry and/or engineering/engineering technology.

Salary/Compensations

  • $49.96/hr. (Non-negotiable)
