About the Role

The Manager will support the development and implementation of team and service-level plans, strategies, policies, risk management, practice standards, quality assurance, and other practice improvement measures related to Permanence and Post Order Service. The role involves coaching, managing, and supporting social workers to ensure assessments are completed within court timelines, safeguarding children and young people, and achieving optimal outcomes. The position also requires exercising effective case management and oversight of Regulation 24 carers and unregulated placements, and responsibility for pre and post SGO support services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 6 social workers in the SGO & Connected Persons Team & Post Order Support Team.
  • Appraise information and make sound judgments and decisions to safeguard children and promote good outcomes.
  • Monitor budgets and effectively allocate resources, including attendance at Finance Panels.
  • Provide management oversight and review of all Alternative carers financial support packages, including adopters.
  • Monitor and conduct Quality Assurance of Kinship carers paperwork and SGO reports, and undertake case file audits.
  • Monitor and conduct Quality Assurance of all ASF applications.
  • Drive the new Kinship Strategy Reforms and Kinship Local Offer in Waltham Forest.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Work Qualification
  • Three years post qualifying social work skills and experience
  • Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
  • Good knowledge of ICT skills, Microsoft Office, and Mosaic systems
  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest
  • Satisfactory Enhanced DBS/Barred Service check
  • Continued professional body registration
  • Must hold a form of UK work authorization that does not require sponsorship

Skills

  • Sound knowledge of Child Care legislations and Care Planning regulations
  • Sound knowledge of Fostering regulations, National Minimum Standards, and conversant with connected person carers & Reg 25 extension and advice
  • Good knowledge base and practice experience of permanency planning for children
  • Adoption experience is desirable
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good assessment skills
  • Knowledge and practice experience about Adoption is desirable
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to prioritize work inflow and outflow to ensure timelines are met
  • Performance driven, promoting staff ownership and accountability of work allocated
  • Fluent English speaking ability
