About the Role

University Settlement partners with over 40,000 New Yorkers annually to foster healthy, stable, and remarkable lives through effective social services. Founded in 1886, we are dedicated to fighting poverty and inequality by collaborating with communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Group Leaders in creating and implementing engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Support Group Leaders in designing and implementing lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities using knowledge of positive youth development and incorporating student feedback.
• Serve as a positive role model for youth and uphold professional behavior.
• Work constructively with co-counselors and colleagues, communicating regularly with supervisory staff.
• Maintain responsibility for designated program supplies and proper use of all facilities.
• Assist the Group Leader with completing all necessary documentation and administrative tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or HSE preferred, or 1 year of experience working with children under 13.
• Must be at least 16 years of age with up-to-date working papers.
• Ability to commit for the entire season.
• Highly energetic, dynamic, and positive demeanor.
