About the Role

AHEAD helps large enterprises assess, design, build, and migrate to the Microsoft Azure platform, and increasingly helps those same enterprises design, build, and run AI agent platforms on top of it. This role sits in the AIC Platform Engineering practice, specializing in AI agent platforms on Azure. As a Principal Technical Consultant, you will own the end-to-end delivery of AI agent platforms at client sites, from assessment and design to build, pipeline setup, and client enablement.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with client stakeholders to translate business challenges into technical solutions on Azure, including landing zones, migrations, or agentic platforms.
  • Lead and mentor junior and mid-level consultants, setting technical direction and ensuring engagement success.
  • Shape client engagements by scoping workstreams, defining deliverables, estimating effort, and managing project plans.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, identifying opportunities for AHEAD's services.
  • Serve as the senior technical voice in client meetings, presenting clear recommendations and trade-offs.
  • Lead Azure discovery and assessment engagements, including architecture reviews and readiness assessments.
  • Design and deploy enterprise-scale Azure landing zones following the Cloud Adoption Framework.
  • Plan and execute migrations to Azure using Azure Migrate.
  • Establish hybrid and cross-premises connectivity solutions.
  • Own cost governance and FinOps practices, including budgets, tagging, and reporting.
  • Design and deploy Microsoft Foundry environments for enterprise clients in isolated configurations.
  • Set up Copilot Studio governance, including environment strategy, DLP policies, and connector governance.
  • Build promotion pipelines in GitHub Actions for agent deployment from sandbox to production.
  • Implement evaluation and safety frameworks for AI agents.
  • Develop agents using the Foundry SDK (Python) and Copilot Studio, establishing ALM processes.
  • Advise clients on model selection within the Foundry catalog, considering data residency, inference, and cost.
  • Author design documents, as-builts, build guides, technical roadmaps, and runbooks.
  • Conduct workshops and enablement sessions for client teams.
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for client AI governance boards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in engineering or technical consulting.
  • 5+ years delivering Azure infrastructure, landing zones, or migrations.
  • At least 18 months delivering GenAI or agent systems to production.
  • Experience leading small consulting or engineering teams on client work.
  • Ability to frame ambiguous client problems into concrete architectures.
  • Hands-on delivery of Cloud Adoption Framework landing zones.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Migrate for discovery and migration.
  • Experience with hub-spoke or Virtual WAN network design.
  • Experience with workload right-sizing at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on design and implementation of Azure core services (compute, storage, networking, databases, containers, identity, security).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Foundry, including agent development and deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with Copilot Studio, including agent building and environment administration.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM).
  • Experience with GitHub Actions workflows for CI/CD.
  • Experience promoting agents based on evaluation results against a baseline.
  • Ability to create consulting-grade design documents and technical roadmaps.
  • Ability to explain and defend technical decisions to executives and governance boards.
