About the Role

Canada Life is seeking a Senior Technical Lead to provide technology leadership across critical Sponsor Services and Plan Administration platforms. This role is responsible for leading modernization efforts, driving delivery execution, supporting operational stability, and building strong partnerships across business and technology teams. This position plays a key leadership role in maintaining the stability and evolution of a complex ecosystem that supports sponsor onboarding, contract execution, plan setup, ongoing administration, reporting, and document management. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operational leadership with longer-term modernization initiatives while helping shape the future technology direction of the portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Sponsor Services and Plan Administration solutions, including strategy, solution design, delivery, deployment, support, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage priorities, dependencies, risks, and execution across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate objectives into executable plans.
  • Drive technology investment decisions, architectural direction, and solution planning in partnership with Architecture and Engineering teams.
  • Drive engineering excellence, technology currency, resiliency, security, and operational effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability across the application landscape.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop technical professionals.
  • Create clarity around goals, priorities, accountabilities, and decision-making.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and continuously improving team culture.
  • Support succession planning, knowledge transfer, and capability development.
  • Oversee the overall health and stability of supported platforms.
  • Oversee incident management, problem management, release coordination, and production support activities.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure effective monitoring, support processes, and service management practices are in place.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in enterprise technology delivery, solution design, development, and implementation.
  • Experience as a Technical Lead, Delivery Lead, Architect, or Senior Developer guiding complex solution delivery.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps or Agile delivery practices.
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, integration, and resilience in enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading technology modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership across solution design, delivery execution, stakeholder alignment, and technology decision-making.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and growing technical teams.
  • Ability to influence, collaborate, and partner across multiple groups and seniority levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and fast-paced delivery.
  • Experience driving improvements, challenging the status quo, and leading change.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution skills, with the ability to dive deep while guiding the bigger picture.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance required as a condition of employment.

Salary/Compensations

  • $95,300 - $158,800 annually
