About the Role

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, seeking a Hydrologist to join their Flood Risk and Water Environment team. This role involves delivering projects for diverse clients and offers opportunities for technical development through analysis, site visits, and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake hydrological assessments to support flood risk and hydraulic modelling studies.
  • Derive hydrological inputs using industry-standard methodologies and software.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
  • Support the development of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs).
  • Perform GIS analysis and mapping.
  • Conduct site visits, catchment walkovers, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support project delivery teams on flood risk and water environment projects.

Requirements

  • Consultancy or similar commercial experience supporting hydrology, flood risk, or water environment projects.
  • Commitment to working towards chartership with CIWEM, ICE, or a similar professional institution.
  • Experience using hydrological methods and software such as FEH, ReFH2, and WINFAP.
  • Experience using LowFlows is advantageous.
  • Understanding of hydrological assessment techniques and UK industry guidance.
  • Experience supporting Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs), or similar technical studies.
  • Basic understanding of UK flood risk policy, planning guidance, and climate change allowances.
  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive approach to learning, development, and professional growth.
  • Experience developing or interpreting 1D and 2D hydraulic models using software such as TUFLOW and Flood Modeller (Desirable).
