About the Role
This role involves translating content into English from French, German, and/or Spanish, quality-checking others' work, and liaising with agencies. The position supports training, maintains translation resources, and may include invoice processing and translation memory maintenance. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
Responsibilities
- Translate accurately into English from French plus German and/or Spanish and preferably at least one of the following: Italian, Portuguese or Dutch.
- Check other people’s work
- Liaise with agencies as appropriate
- Assist with "on the department" training where necessary
- Keep resources up to date
- Processing invoice payments, recharges and maintaining Translation Memory (Wordfast Pro)
- Professional Development e.g. undertaking in-house training courses as appropriate
Requirements
- Ability to manage own work in consultation with Translations Manager
- Written fluency in 2 of the following languages: French, German and/or Spanish
- Ability to set and work to deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Must display an aptitude to learn and be willing to study for professional insurance qualification if required
Skills
- Translation experience
- Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance industry or technical writing
- Ability to translate from Italian, Portuguese or Dutch to English
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to work flexibly when required
