About the Role
ASCEND Mental Wellness is seeking a Part-Time Supportive Housing Mental Health Residential Specialist to join their Housing First team. The Housing First program provides safe, affordable, permanent housing for individuals with histories of homelessness and disabilities related to mental illness and/or substance abuse. The program prioritizes stable housing in an empowering, supportive environment to increase residential stability, enhance tenant skills, and foster self-determination.
Responsibilities
- Develop individual service plans with assigned residents and coordinate with other care providers.
- Provide behavioral intervention and assist residents with self-control and coping skills for de-escalation.
- Offer informal case management services and advocacy to residents.
- Provide transportation to appointments as needed.
- Assist supervisor with statistical reporting, collection of fees, and documentation of financial transactions.
- Assist residents with housekeeping direction and small tasks.
- Assist with pest control procedures and protocols.
- Monitor the building's functioning, perform minor repairs, and report larger maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Perform light cleaning in public spaces.
- Act as On Call as scheduled.
- Attend staff meetings and required in-service training.
- Encourage effective communication, personal and interpersonal awareness, and independence among staff and residents.
- Adhere to all OTDA/NYSSHP, OMH/ESSHI, and HUD requirements.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure a supportive and safe environment following established protocols.
Requirements
- One year of Direct Care experience in Human Services.
- Valid driver's license required.
