About the Role
The Jewish Board's Adult Residential Division supports adults with serious and persistent mental illness, promoting independence through a harm-reduction approach. Staff guide residents in creating recovery goals, developing independent living skills, and maintaining healthy, secure lives, emphasizing stable housing, cultural competence, and individual dignity.
Responsibilities
- Procure and maintain client benefits.
- Monitor client SSA and PA benefits to ensure timely certification and maintenance.
- Track program fee and rental disbursements across various residential settings.
- Monitor Medicaid payment disbursements to Apartment Treatment Programs.
- Coordinate benefits with relevant agencies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the Human Resources Administration and Social Security Administration for client advocacy.
- Ensure timely and accurate handling of SSI renewals.
- Maintain Medicaid benefits for residents.
- Provide requested materials and work with auditors during SSA audits.
- Provide direct service to residents related to benefits and service plan goals.
- Address consumer arrears by initiating reparative processes and collecting funds.
- Prepare and communicate information to clients and staff regarding benefit programs, procedures, and changes.
- Address benefit interruptions with preemptive action.
- Facilitate team meetings and case conferences regarding entitlements.
- Facilitate Consumer/tenant meetings and work with staff to resolve entitlements issues.
- Ensure accurate completion of client documentation from intake to discharge, adhering to HRA, Medicaid, OMH, and JBFCS requirements.
- Develop and maintain linkages with community service providers.
- Conduct staff training and development in entitlements.
- Conduct regular reviews of client benefits and related documentation.
- Maintain relationships with governmental and other agencies.
- Submit monthly internal JBFCS reports, including arrears tracking and benefits documentation.
- Participate in assigned meetings.
- Work collaboratively as part of a service delivery team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must possess excellent casework, administrative, and analytical skills.
- Must be organized and able to multitask.
- Must have prior experience working with adults with mental illness.
- Must have the ability to work individually on projects and as a team player.
- Must be organized and meticulous.
- Must possess the ability to pay attention to detail.
- Technologically competent in handling administrative practices.
- Candidate is routinely required to sit (90% of the time) and stand (10% of the time).
- Able to read paper and electronic documents.
- Able to perform significant data entry into various computer programs.
Skills
- Intermediate to expert computer skills.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services preferred, or HS Diploma with requisite 3 years’ experience.
