About the Role
The Teller I/Teller Float performs various financial transactions, recommends additional products and services based on member needs, and learns about the Credit Union's offerings. This role requires effective communication and a professional representation of the credit union.
Responsibilities
- Learn all aspects of the teller position.
- Gain a solid foundation of credit union products and services.
- Evaluate member accounts during transactions to identify needs and cross-sell relevant services, deposits, and loan products.
- Greet members courteously, professionally, and promptly, providing accurate service.
- Perform transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cash advances, loan payments, and check cashing.
- Respond professionally to member inquiries, requests, or problems.
- Maintain teller drawer cash within appropriate levels.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all credit union products and services.
- Promote, explain, and cross-sell credit union products and services.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of the teller daily proof.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of member and employee business.
- Possess general knowledge of BSA rules and regulations and complete BSA training.
- Process shared branching transactions and inquiries.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Process check orders and certificates of deposit.
- Cross-train and learn branch morning work.
- Accommodate flexible work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and other branch locations.
- Report to various in-county (Nassau or Suffolk) locations as directed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Good communication skills.
- Minimum 3 months customer service experience in a financial institution or retail environment preferred.
- Previous Teller or cash handling experience preferred.
