About the Role

Operates ultrasound equipment for diagnostic purposes, demonstrating independent judgment to ensure quality images for diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all ultrasound equipment for imaging.
  • Performs quality and timely ultrasound services and procedures.
  • Utilizes proper identification markers to identify the examination performer.
  • Enters correct patient demographic information into the ultrasound unit.
  • Performs examinations using proper transducers, gain settings, and patient positioning for optimal images.
  • Reviews patient history and consults with physicians regarding questions or contraindications.
  • Documents pertinent patient history, reviews previous reports, and discusses procedures with patients.
  • Ensures examinations contain all necessary normal/abnormal anatomy and information for diagnosis.
  • Differentiates normal from abnormal findings and seeks physician assistance when unsure.
  • Discusses findings with the physician.
  • Cleans, maintains, and monitors equipment; troubleshoots equipment per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Reports equipment problems to supervisor and contacts manufacturer service departments under supervisor direction.
  • Informs supervisor of unusual matters and seeks guidance.
  • Participates in continuous CQI activities and completes necessary continuing education.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a health-related field.
  • Direct experience in OB/GYN preferred.
  • Must be registered by the American Board of Diagnostic Sonographers and remain current with mandatory CME’s.
