About the Role
The Guest Experience Attendant is responsible for creating a welcoming, energetic, and hospitable experience throughout the Terry Black’s Barbecue dining room by actively interacting with guests, anticipating their needs, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the space.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a constant presence throughout the dining room and guest areas.
- Welcome and engage with guests in a genuine, friendly manner.
- Check in with tables throughout their visit to ensure guests have everything they need.
- Anticipate guest needs before being asked whenever possible.
- Assist guests with beverages, condiments, utensils, napkins, to-go supplies, and other needs.
- Clear unnecessary plates, trays, cups, and trash from tables throughout the guest experience.
- Keep tables, chairs, floors, beverage stations, condiment areas, and other guest-facing areas clean and organized.
- Help guests locate seating and assist families, elderly guests, or guests who may need additional help.
- Answer questions about the restaurant, menu, barbecue, and overall Terry Black’s experience.
- Recognize special occasions and opportunities to make a guest's visit more memorable.
- Quickly address guest concerns and involve a manager when additional support is needed.
- Communicate guest feedback and recurring service opportunities to restaurant leadership.
- Work closely with the cashier, meat market, bar, bussing, and management teams to ensure a smooth guest experience.
- Maintain dining room readiness during peak periods by staying ahead of table turnover, cleanliness, and guest needs.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to visit again.
Requirements
- Naturally friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with a wide variety of guests.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize guest needs without waiting to be asked.
- Positive attitude and team-first mentality.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to remain on your feet and actively move throughout the restaurant for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, and carry items throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work in a busy restaurant environment that may include indoor and outdoor guest areas.
