About the Role

The Prevocational DSP provides service coordination for individuals in the Prevocational program, organizing and implementing workshops to teach job and living skills under the supervision of the Community Based Program Prevocational Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with staff and clients.
  • Provides on-going service to individuals in a caseload up to 8.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of individuals vocational goals.
  • Attends formal and informal training.
  • Provides advocacy according to the participants’ needs.
  • Provides supervision for individuals.
  • Maintains up-to-date program notes and outcome notes for participants.
  • Transports individuals to volunteer activities and to/from program daily.
  • Maintains agency vehicles to ensure safety and submits gas receipts.
  • Assists consumers in and out of the van during activities.
  • Ensures fire safety needs are met, including participation in fire drills.
  • Ensures the safety of individuals at all times.
  • Attends mandatory training and/or meetings as scheduled.
  • Reports and completes notables as necessary.
  • Maintains up-to-date training, first aid, and CPR certifications.
  • Assists participants with El Camino Café day-to-day activities.
  • Assists individuals with volunteer opportunities to develop work and soft skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Current NY State driver’s license.
  • Experience working with community human service providers.
  • Experience working with the Developmentally Disabled population.
  • Knowledge of community human service providers.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • A combination of training and experience may be accepted if deemed adequate.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to take care of customer needs while following company procedures.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Ability to teach or foster the development of others.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
