About the Role

Organize, lead, and participate in a wide variety of resident activities on a daily basis, ensuring high levels of resident engagement and enjoyment. This role also involves completing resident assessments and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and participate in resident activities daily.
  • Lead and participate in special events as needed.
  • Adapt activity approach to accommodate different physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Ensure events are well-provisioned and on time.
  • Complete all scheduled activities daily.
  • Report to the Activity Director or Coordinator if unable to complete scheduled activities as intended.
  • Transport supplies, clean up, and return materials after activities.
  • Observe participants to gauge enjoyment and gather feedback for event improvement.
  • Record resident participation and behaviors.
  • Complete resident assessments and documentation.
  • Report medical concerns or observations.
  • Utilize computers daily.
  • Cope with the emotional stress of working with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Work independently with periodic support.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency or disaster situations.
  • Adhere to high standards of cleanliness, grooming, hygiene, and dress code.
  • Adhere to all documentation requirements of the activities department, facility, and company.
  • Contribute to a positive work team by sharing information and accepting feedback.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service through professionalism and positive communication.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including HIPAA and resident rights.
  • Adapt positively to changes in responsibilities and be flexible in carrying out assignments.
  • Communicate and interact professionally and respectfully with others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience and passion for working in geriatric settings, such as nursing homes or senior centers.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Physically able to perform duties such as standing for long periods, squatting, bending, and pushing activity carts.
  • Proficient in the use of various computer programs.
  • Experience in SIGMA care and SAGELY is a plus.
  • Experience in organizing game groups and Art classes.
