About the Role
Williamsburg Charter High School in Brooklyn is seeking an energetic, motivated, and inspiring Softball Coach for the 2026-27 school year. The coach will train athletes, prepare them for competition, and develop their skills. This role involves enforcing discipline, nurturing student needs, and modeling sportsman-like behavior.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
- Monitor and report on student progress and performance
- Collaborate and consult with staff on student performance in Softball activity and schoolwork
- Maintain ongoing communication with Athletics Program Director
- Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect, and self-esteem
- Act as a positive role model for students
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of coaching experience
- Knowledge of surrounding area sporting events is a plus
- Background participating on a college/university level team is acceptable
- Work under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director
- Enforce discipline, nurture student needs, and model sportsman-like behavior
- Practice days are flexible; generally practice times are from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, but can vary
- A commitment to the mission and programs of WCHS
- Experience working with youth and adolescent population
- At least two years of coaching experience
- Ensure the Softball curriculum is structured, age-appropriate, and has clear learning goals
- Solid understanding of Softball rules and safety guidelines
- Must be able to travel to away games or events
- Must have strong leadership and organizational skills
- Must have excellent writing and communication skills
- Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible, and approachable attitude
