About the Role
RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a dedicated individual to join Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines. This role is crucial for supporting the set-up and operation of a rotary atomization furnace, contributing to the advancement of aerospace and defense technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning, monitoring, and securing operations for rotary atomization furnace set-up.
- Follow verbal and written instructions for repetitive tasks before, after, and during the atomization process.
- Assist in preparing raw material charges, operating the furnace control board, and performing minor repairs.
- Clean the atomization chamber and perform housekeeping duties.
- Assist in the removal and replacement of coils and cleaning the furnace chamber interior.
- Clean raw material charges and transport them to the charge area.
- Assist in attaching and detaching gas, electric, and water lines to the furnace.
- Clean crucibles, patch cracks, and perform repairs prior to the next run.
- Perform tasks not specifically listed, within scope and skill level, to support department objectives and skill development.
- Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties.
- Adhere to all EH & S guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US)
- Good attendance record
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work from heights – up to 60’
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to ascend, descend stairs, stand for extended periods, bend, squat, twist, reach overhead, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- U.S. citizenship is required for access to program/contract information.
