About the Role
We are looking for a builder who thinks in systems to design the architecture for a new network. This role combines the responsibilities of an architect, technical product leader, and editorial partner. You will define the tech stack, build pipelines connecting studio and newsrooms to screens, and advise on operational methods. The goal is to create the bridge between financial data and editorial reporting and intelligent automation for content research, clipping, and optimization in real-time.
Responsibilities
- Architect the end-to-end tech stack for the network, including editorial and video production workflow tooling, clip generation, talent prep, post-production automation, and audience-facing applications.
- Recommend build-versus-buy decisions and evaluate vendors, collaborating with procurement, security, and engineering standards.
- Integrate new systems into the editorial workflow from day one, selecting and designing tools that match production needs.
- Design and oversee the implementation of pipelines integrating with Dow Jones data, CMS, and publishing infrastructure to create derivative content formats at speed.
- Collaborate on standards for new technology use in editorial workflows, including AI provenance, accuracy checks, and journalistic guardrails.
- Serve as the technical owner of the control room during launch, establishing systems and workflows before scaling.
- Advise leadership on emerging methods, models, and tools, distinguishing hype from reality.
- Be conversant in modern LLM stacks and AI rights/safety constraints in a news environment.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience.
- A track record building infrastructure from scratch in a production environment, ideally with editorial, creative, or media output.
- Experience designing or supporting live production environments, including studio operations, automation, or streaming infrastructure.
- Deep hands-on technical fluency to evaluate architecture, understand implementation details, and lead complex systems integrations.
- Strong judgment on what to build, what to buy, and what to wait on, with defensible opinions on the current model landscape.
- Experience working alongside editorial, creative, or production teams, with patience and translation skills.
- A working understanding of the modern media production stack.
- The ability to move fast without compromising integrity and quality.
- Comfort with ambiguity and operating without a pre-existing roadmap.
- A genuine point of view on where this technology is going and how a newsroom should use it.
