About the Role

Provide consulting services and manage projects for medium and large clients, leveraging expertise in group benefit programs to make recommendations on plan design, pricing, and delivery. Collaborate with the team to deliver impactful solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability, and special risk benefits.
  • Develop and implement strategies for client retention.
  • Identify group insurance risks and recommend appropriate plan design and cost mitigation strategies.
  • Assess, negotiate, write reports, and prepare presentations for group renewals.
  • Manage the transition of benefits to new carriers, mitigating client risk.
  • Price and analyze costings, including alternative funding arrangements.
  • Act as "second chair" for medium to large clients.
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables.
  • Develop annual client plans to ensure value-added service and alignment with client goals.
  • Participate in client calls and meetings, assisting with presentation preparation.
  • Manage client expectations and address concerns.
  • Mentor analysts and team members, and peer review work.
  • Assist on specific projects, initiatives, and research.
  • Support new business/sales initiatives.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of employee benefit legislation, administrative issues, plan rules, claim management, and client-specific procedures.
  • Participate in industry conferences and seminars to promote services and stay updated on trends.
  • Represent People Corporation and act as a brand ambassador.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of People Corporation products and services.
  • Foster positive supplier relations for clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and across the organization.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in group benefits, benefits consulting, group insurance, underwriting, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of group benefits plans, including medical, dental, life, disability, and special risk benefits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong overall proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience preparing client presentations, reports, and spreadsheets is highly valued.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Strong client service and relationship management skills.
  • Confidence participating in client meetings, presentations, and discussions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the GTA.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify issues, assess risks, and recommend practical solutions.
