About the Role

Capital One is seeking a Director, Technical Program Manager focused on Resiliency and Reliability Engineering to drive innovation and develop tools that improve customers' financial lives through best-in-class technology. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership, and a deep focus on execution.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life-cycle.
  • Grow and develop a team of TPMs.
  • Build the foundations for the TPM practice.
  • Simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
  • Demonstrate deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
  • Collaborate effectively across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries.
  • Utilize highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listening skills, and deep-seated empathy for teams and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
  • Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services or architecture.
  • 3+ years of experience with site reliability engineering, observability, incident response, or disaster recovery programs at scale.
  • 3+ years of experience driving resilience or reliability engineering initiatives — including chaos engineering, failure mode analysis, or run-the-engine reduction programs.
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs — where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact.

  • New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900
