About the Role
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of a portfolio of residential and retail properties, ensuring accurate financial results, strong cash management, and timely reporting.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly GL close (GAAP and cash general ledgers) and prepare workpapers.
- Manage daily accounting for a portfolio of four properties, including accounts payable review, cash management oversight, cash receipts processing, and loan draw preparation.
- Collaborate with operations and asset management on property financial activities and ad hoc reports.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders (investor, lender compliance, asset management, operational reports).
- Manage cash flow projections to meet portfolio cash needs.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and collaborate with the real estate team.
- Assist in the annual audit process, managing interim work, workpapers, audit report templates, and footnotes.
- Assist in the annual RPIE and TC 201 process.
- Serve as a resource for sustainability initiatives, integrating sustainability into processes and practices.
- Empower colleagues, consultants, tenants, and residents to engage in environmental stewardship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting.
- 5+ years of accounting and relevant asset class industry experience.
- High level of computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills to solve problems.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
- Strong knowledge of workpapers, corporate entity & loan structures, and property operations.
- Ability to drive results and meet strict deadlines.
