About the Role

The Director, Account Management is the strategic and executional lead responsible for delivering exceptional client experiences and strong business outcomes from program start to finish. This role involves client strategy, operational execution, and cross-functional team coordination to ensure clear priorities, anticipated risks, and seamless program delivery. The Director will build deep client expertise, strengthen strategic relationships, and create a proactive, scalable approach to managing complex integrated media programs, while also mentoring junior talent.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall success of client accounts, serving as the central point of accountability for the client experience, program execution, and business outcomes from start to finish.
  • Build deep client, agency, and industry expertise, understanding brand objectives, audiences, media strategies, and business priorities to ensure programs deliver against broader client goals.
  • Translate client priorities into actionable plans, establishing clear ownership, timelines, and expectations and ensuring the right internal teams are engaged at the right time.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across the account, coordinating internal teams, setting priorities, driving accountability, and ensuring seamless delivery.
  • Mentor and oversee Junior Account Managers, providing guidance, feedback, and hands-on support while developing their skills, confidence, and ownership.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex client, campaign, and executional issues, driving timely resolution and proactively identifying risks that could impact delivery, revenue, or client relationships.
  • Drive predictive, end-to-end execution by anticipating risks and dependencies and using clear project plans, timelines, critical paths, and communication frameworks to ensure integrated media programs launch on time, deliver in full, and meet client expectations.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional execution across Sales, Finance, Marketing, Ad Operations, Media Strategy, Contracts, and other internal teams, creating clear accountability and maintaining alignment throughout the account lifecycle.
  • Build scalable, efficient ways of working by developing SOPs, improving workflows, strengthening team structures and coverage, and reducing execution risk as the business and product portfolio grow.
  • Use campaign performance, reporting, and client insights to inform optimization, demonstrate value, strengthen strategic partnerships, and identify opportunities to improve account outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales, Media Strategy, and Contracts to identify incremental business opportunities and ensure commercial priorities remain connected to client needs and operational execution.
  • Champion a team-agnostic, client-first culture, prioritizing the best outcome for the client and business while driving continuous improvement across account management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Update and maintain client contracts both externally and internally within Salesforce.
  • Generate client facing performance reports.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading account management, client services, or post-sales teams in a fast-paced, complex environment, with accountability for client relationships, execution, and business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical marketing, brand lifecycles, HCP and patient audiences, agencies, and integrated/multi-channel media.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior client and agency stakeholders, understand business objectives, and translate them into actionable strategies and execution plans.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end media operations, cross-functional dependencies, and project management, with the ability to anticipate risks and drive proactive, accurate execution.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, including junior talent, while establishing clear accountability and opportunities for growth.
  • Exceptional collaborator who can align Sales, Finance, Marketing, Ad Operations, Media Strategy, Contracts, and other teams around shared priorities and outcomes.
  • Ability to connect client needs, campaign performance, and business objectives while identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and support account growth.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to quickly diagnose challenges and determine the appropriate process, resource, technology, or communication solution.
