About the Role

Drive the mechanical design for AMD’s next-generation server and GPU platforms, shaping the physical design of high-power platforms and ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive mechanical architecture for AMD’s flagship server and GPU products.
  • Work at the highest technical level with experts across mechanical, thermal, and structural disciplines.
  • Shape engineering standards used across programs.
  • Tackle demanding, high-impact problems with the ability to shape product and organizational direction.
  • Lead the mechanical design for advanced server and GPU platforms.
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and prototypes; validate through simulation, analysis, and physical testing.
  • Collaborate with system architecture, board, validation, and manufacturing teams.
  • Represent AMD in technical reviews, customer engagements, and industry forums.
  • Provide consultative direction to senior leadership on mechanical strategy and design trade-offs.
  • Mentor engineers, guide technical direction across functional boundaries, and foster innovation.
  • Make critical decisions impacting multiple product families, go-to-market readiness, and overall customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Experienced mechanical engineering professional with technical excellence and strategic thinking.
  • Strong professional background in mechanical design including server and GPU systems, data center infrastructure, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exposure to optics and laser design.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and solve complex design challenges.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across teams and product lines.
  • Principal level, mechanical or product design professional experience, ideally in server hardware, GPU systems, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design for server and rack solutions.
  • Expert proficiency with CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent, with advanced modeling and assembly management skills.
  • Strong familiarity with DFM principles and manufacturing processes for high-volume production.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical materials, manufacturing processes (sheet metal, injection molding, die casting, extrusion), and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with electrical, thermal, and validation teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across organizations.
  • Optics and laser experience desired.
