About the Role

The Manager will lead client engagements within the Business Enterprise Solutions Team (BEST), which handles bookkeeping, payroll, financial management, reporting, government filings, and business advice. The team also prepares financial statements, corporate tax filings, and related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute engagements, including staff supervision and first-level review.
  • Identify accounting and tax issues and develop appropriate work plans.
  • Prepare and monitor engagement budgets, communicating status to the partner.
  • Demonstrate ownership and urgency to complete client files.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, providing feedback and growth opportunities.
  • Lead talent development through training, skill-building, and knowledge sharing.
  • Meet chargeability, profitability, and realization goals.
  • Become the key contact person on engagements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key client personnel.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of clients' businesses.
  • Identify and handle complex technical issues and problems.
  • Develop creative solutions to client issues.
  • Recognize business improvement areas and promote firm services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years as a manager in an accounting firm.
  • Specialization in client files within professional services is an asset.
  • Serve as the go-to person for team members, providing coaching and support.
  • Participate in recruitment and training of new team members.
  • Strong understanding of business issues and trends.
  • Proven experience in client service.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, establishing credibility and decisiveness.
  • Excellent strategic, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, Word, and Excel.
  • Highly computer literate overall.
  • Knowledge of Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep.
