About the Role

Under the delegation and supervision of an RN, provides clinical support with basic nursing care and patient monitoring for the general welfare and safety of all patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with basic patient care, including hygiene, feeding, and vital sign measurement.
  • Measures and records intake and output, and makes beds.
  • Performs selected procedures such as specimen collections and urine testing.
  • Maintains clean and orderly patient care areas.
  • Orients patients to the unit and responds to call lights promptly.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Assists with reinforcement of incentive spirometry and oxygen equipment.
  • Keeps RN informed of work status and availability.
  • Moves and lifts patients, and supports multidisciplinary team with exercises.
  • Performs patient observer role when assigned.
  • Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates understanding of bowel and bladder management routines.
  • Participates as a member of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
  • Provides patient care activity in support of patient goals.
  • Provides written documentation and verbal feedback to RN/LPN.
  • Participates in therapeutic activities with patients.
  • Demonstrates proper use and care of rehab equipment.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year medical/surgical or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Nurse Aide Certification or equivalent required.
  • BLS certification required.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of one year medical/surgical or equivalent experience preferred

Education Level

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent
