About the Role
British Vogue is seeking a passionate and authoritative Senior Shopping Writer to join the Vogue Shopping team, helping to expand and optimise Vogue’s fashion shopping vertical across digital platforms. They will craft distinctive and compelling shopping content that inspires our audience while driving meaningful commercial growth across affiliate and partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day editorial direction of fashion shopping, driving distinctive, authoritative coverage across key retail and seasonal moments, including Fashion Week, Cyber Week and major sale periods.
- Take responsibility for the performance of the fashion shopping vertical against agreed affiliate targets, working alongside the Shopping Editor and Shopping Director to analyse results and identify opportunities to improve performance.
- Support the management of the long-term fashion shopping editorial calendar across evergreen, SEO, seasonal, trending and emerging content, working closely with Audience Development to optimise search and distribution, maintain high-performing evergreen content and identify opportunities to grow audience and affiliate revenue.
- Write, pitch and optimise up to 8-10 new and evergreen commerce stories each week, working with the Shopping Director, wider shopping team and creative teams to ensure content and product recommendations are distinctive, authoritative and on-brand.
- Edit and optimise fashion shopping copy from writers, contributors and freelancers, ensuring editorial quality, accuracy, tone of voice, SEO best practice and commercial effectiveness.
- Create editor-led UGC to support Vogue Shopping storytelling across articles, social and newsletters.
- Identify and plan around editorial categories, seasonal tentpoles and emerging commerce opportunities, using purchasing data, site analytics, search trends and competitive insights to inform coverage.
- Identify new shopping categories, products and trends Vogue should be covering, staying ahead of what fashion consumers are interested in and identifying opportunities before competitors.
- Produce and present regular reports, analysis and insights on content, audience and commercial performance.
- Work with the Shopping Editor to track purchasing data and performance across onsite, social and newsletter distribution, using insights to inform future editorial decisions.
- Work closely with Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data, insights and best practices that improve the reach and performance of Vogue Shopping content.
- Act as a senior commerce voice within the wider Vogue editorial team, supporting the research and optimisation of shoppable content and identifying opportunities to translate Vogue’s editorial authority into commerce.
- Bring a clear editorial point of view to product and shopping recommendations that reflects the interests and expectations of the Vogue reader.
- Partner with the fashion market team to support market stories with authoritative shopping expertise, well-written copy and captions.
- Represent British Vogue at fashion market appointments, press days, launches and industry events, building strong relationships with brands, retailers, designers and fashion tastemakers.
- Support and develop more junior members of the shopping team through editorial feedback, sharing fashion expertise and championing best practice across fashion commerce content.
- Coordinate freelancers where required, including commissioning briefs, editing copy and overseeing delivery.
- Work with the Shopping Director, Shopping Editor and partnerships team to help deliver fashion content for Vogue Shopping tenancy and commercial partnership programmes, balancing commercial objectives with Vogue’s editorial standards and authority.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years’ experience writing fashion and commerce or affiliate content for a digital publication, with a strong understanding of commerce best practice.
- Confident editing and improving copy while maintaining a consistent and distinctive Vogue voice.
- Strong knowledge of SEO principles and experience using search and audience insights to shape editorial coverage and attract a buying audience.
- Exceptional editorial judgement and the ability to identify the products, trends and shopping stories that matter to the Vogue reader.
- Experience analysing performance across product categories, retailers and content types and using those insights to optimise revenue generation.
- Experience managing product sourcing logistics within an editorial or commerce environment.
- Experience developing editorial calendars, franchises and content strategies rather than solely executing individual stories.
- Highly organised and methodical, with polished communication skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities and oversee the work of contributors.
- A proactive self-starter with an enthusiasm for directly contributing to the growth of Condé Nast’s commerce business.
- Ability to write clean, authentic and engaging copy at speed without resorting to marketing jargon.
- Expansive product knowledge across categories and price points, with a particular depth of knowledge and passion for fashion.
