About the Role
Lead the successful execution of complex engineering projects and programs for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities. This role is responsible for overall project delivery, financial performance, and client satisfaction across a portfolio of projects. Serve as a key client interface, provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior project managers, and support business development efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of engineering projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
- Provide overall leadership for project execution including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety performance
- Oversee financial performance and profitability of assigned projects and develop recovery plans when needed
- Serve as primary client relationship manager, maintaining strong client partnerships and identifying opportunities for additional services
- Lead coordination between engineering leads, project teams, and functional managers
- Develop and review project financial reports, schedules, and resource forecasts
- Report project performance, financial status, schedule, and risks to clients and internal leadership
- Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers, engineers, and project staff
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and promote collaboration across engineering, project controls, accounting, and support functions
- Support the development and improvement of project management processes, tools, and best practices
- Assist with and lead proposal development, including scope definition, scheduling, and cost estimates
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development teams to expand existing client relationships and identify new opportunities
- Prepare and present technical and project performance reports to clients and internal leadership
- Work with Accounting and Project Controls on client invoicing, project financial tracking, and accounts receivable
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience managing engineering or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience managing large or complex projects for electric utilities
- PE registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Previous project management experience with a utility or engineering consulting firm strongly preferred
- Experience in transmission line design and management preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to mentor and develop junior staff
- Some travel is required
