About the Role
A qualified dispatcher is responsible for exercising safe and efficient operational control over Porter Airlines flights in conjunction with the pilot-in-command.
Responsibilities
- Perform operational pre-departure planning and flight watch within a prescribed geographic area or assigned flights.
- Formulate, amend, and execute the Operational Flight Plan (OFP) considering safety, regulatory, customer service, and fiscal requirements.
- Authorize aircraft release for operation according to OFP terms.
- Analyze operational conditions, including weather, field conditions, ATC restrictions, and aircraft performance, to identify opportunities or restrictions.
- Exercise operational control on a co-authority basis with the Pilot-In-Command for safe and efficient flight planning and monitoring.
- Perform operational Flight Watch, determine when OFP changes are needed, and communicate changes to flight crew.
- Formulate and implement revised OFPs and communicate them to the Pilot-In-Command.
- Provide flight crew briefings covering significant operational information.
- Obtain flight progress information and ensure flight tracking system accuracy.
- Communicate OFP requirements to Air Traffic Control (ATC).
- Initiate Emergency Response procedures.
- Resolve conflicts with Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) and Pilot-In-Command regarding aircraft dispatch deviations.
- Participate in the Safety Management System (SMS), reporting hazards and incidents.
- Conduct On The Job Training for Flight Dispatcher positions as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an airline operations centre.
- Possess a Radiotelephone Operator's Restricted Certificate.
- Successful completion of Transport Canada FDMET and FDOPS exams within the last 2 years.
- At least 21 years of age per CARs Standard 725.124(21)(r).
- Working knowledge of CARs 705 or previous Type A (or equivalent) Flight Dispatch experience.
