About the Role
Gallagher Bassett is seeking experienced Technical Managers to provide technical oversight and guidance for Property and General Liability teams. These roles will ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance in coverage interpretation and decision-making, acting as a technical advisor to resolve complex claims and strengthen governance.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze insurance policies to determine coverage, exclusions and liability across complex claims.
- Provide expert technical advice to claims teams on policy interpretation, coverage positions and dispute risk.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex coverage queries and technical referrals.
- Support claims teams in developing and negotiating settlement strategies.
- Ensure consistent and compliant application of policy language, relevant legislation and scheme requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and external partners.
- Identify trends, emerging risks and coverage issues and provide recommendations to mitigate exposure.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance claims quality, consistency and efficiency.
- Coach and develop claims professionals to strengthen technical capability across the business.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in general insurance claims with strong technical expertise in coverage interpretation.
- In-depth knowledge of Property and/or General Liability claims.
- Strong understanding of insurance policy wording, exclusions, endorsements and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to manage complex coverage issues and provide defensible recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience coaching and developing technical capability within claims teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgement.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complex workloads.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
- Must have the right to live and work within Australia.
