About the Role

This role is for a Managing Engineer within Refrigeration, focusing on the Supermarket FM sector. You will be responsible for a team of Refrigeration Engineers, ensuring timely and budget-conscious completion of maintenance tasks, managing the call-out rota, and maintaining adequate safety cover.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the team, acting as their daily point of contact, and provide management support, guidance, training, and development.
  • Provide technical support and training to the team of Refrigeration Engineers.
  • Control daily staffing, including management of an "on-call" rota.
  • Assist Area Support Manager with HR processes such as return-to-work forms, disciplinary incidents, performance reviews, and holiday/absence cover.
  • Investigate, record, and escalate accidents or near misses according to the Health & Safety Policy.
  • Provide technical support for major operational issues and incidents.
  • Assist the team in delivering high-quality Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) work.
  • Collaborate with the Area Support Manager to address Health & Safety issues and report/escalate as necessary, including PPE matters.
  • Assist the Area Support Manager with budgetary management of parts and materials, reporting overspends and variances.
  • Attend client and manager meetings within the region on behalf of the business.
  • Work autonomously in a pressurized environment, prioritizing a complex workload.
  • Communicate operational issues within the region effectively.
  • Maintain a customer service-driven approach in a people-focused environment.
  • Be flexible with working hours, including weekend working and on-call cover, to ensure customer service levels and continuity of service.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving license is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience working on a mobile basis.
  • Experience in an FM environment.
  • Refrigeration Engineering experience within Supermarkets.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and use diplomacy.
  • Ability to supervise engineers in a pressurized environment dealing with store teams and the public.
  • Capable of prioritizing a complex and demanding workload.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including weekend working and on-call cover.

  • £60,668 (including location allowance of £3,000 per annum)
