About the Role
This role is responsible for traffic signal construction and maintenance work in accordance with established safety standards, policies, and procedures. The position involves underground infrastructure, above ground installations and retrofits, and signal component maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform traffic signal construction and maintenance in accordance with established safety standards, policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Install, maintain, and retrofit underground infrastructure, traffic signals, and associated components.
- Perform highway lighting maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of lighting systems and associated electrical equipment.
- Maintain a consistent focus on safety throughout all job functions.
- Keep company vehicles, tools, and equipment organized and in proper working condition.
Requirements
- Two (2) or more years of experience in traffic signal construction, traffic signal maintenance, highway lighting construction, or highway lighting maintenance.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing roadway lighting systems; high mast lighting experience preferred.
- Ability to perform hands-on installation and maintenance using required tools while working at heights, in confined spaces, near moving traffic, and in varying weather conditions.
- Experience operating bucket trucks or other aerial lift equipment.
- Ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Technician and Workzone certifications within 12 months of employment.
- Ability to obtain IMSA Traffic Signal Level II or III preferred Technician.
- Ability to obtain TR450 within 3 months of employment.
- Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 3 months of employment and maintain thereafter.
- Routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
- Ability to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
