About the Role

The Civil / Structural Director will lead a team of senior project managers, project managers, field staff and assigned support staff across various projects, and is responsible for managing those projects at a strategic level. The CSD is the primary point of contact, managing the project teams, resources and financials, to ensure that the projects deliver value to stakeholders, are delivered to industry best standards of quality and safety, on schedule, on budget, and meet technical and contractual requirements required. The CSD regularly reviews progress reports and acts to align the development of the project within the broader goals of the organization through staffing, financial, or other adjustments. The CSD will provide coaching, guidance, direction, and leadership to the project teams in relation to various issues, risks, activities, general management and project approach.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, leading, coordinating, and administering multiple projects from conceptual stages through close-out.
  • Assisting Business Development in expanding work scope, developing proposal strategies, and preparing execution plans.
  • Supporting customer communications and presentations.
  • Supervising the development of budgets and schedules, managing performance, and reporting progress.
  • Resolving problems and managing the final turnover of projects to customers.
  • Providing leadership for the development and maintenance of a high-performance project team.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within contract requirements, standards of ethics, quality, and safety.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for project teams, resources, and financials.
  • Reviewing progress reports and aligning project development with organizational goals.
  • Providing coaching, guidance, and leadership to project teams.
  • Monitoring and controlling all contractual commitments.
  • Implementing and maintaining a change management control system.
  • Facilitating the development and use of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Reviewing and approving Project Control systems.
  • Ensuring quality requirements are met and assessing customer perception of quality.
  • Overseeing the Environmental, Health & Safety program.
  • Overseeing Document Control and Records Management.
  • Reviewing and approving bid tabulations and critical changes.
  • Directing the preparation and presentation of Project Status Reports.
  • Monitoring cash flow and controlling budget for non-reimbursable costs.
  • Assisting in training new project managers and personnel.
  • Promoting Continuous Improvement and team building.
  • Conducting periodic project and Customer meetings.
  • Managing strategic aspects of large engagements and mitigating risk.
  • Overseeing Project Managers and managers on client engagements.
  • Reviewing high-level deliverables across practice.
  • Ensuring engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures occur.
  • Providing leadership across all assigned projects.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining sound business practices and strategic objectives.
  • Reporting profit and loss figures; consolidating and analyzing profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates, and utilization.
  • Creating pipeline forecasts and broad-based financial pictures.
  • Addressing and resolving billing issues.
  • Ensuring practice meets or exceeds budgeted financial objectives.
  • Developing and meeting revenue and financial goals.
  • Providing leadership and guidance throughout the sales cycle.
  • Leading strategic account identification and development.
  • Engaging Business Development to achieve sales goals.
  • Managing business development at a strategic level.
  • Growing long-term client relationships and capitalizing on partnership opportunities.
  • Keeping practice informed of changes and newsworthy events within Lemartec.
  • Communicating relevant practice information to the Director of Construction Operations.
  • Handling difficult personnel situations with discretion, HR advice, and respect.
  • Promoting Lemartec via industry conferences and local business organizations.
  • Evaluating and redesigning practice offerings.
  • Guiding clients on technical solutions.
  • Reinforcing a team approach on client projects and internal initiatives.
  • Supporting and soliciting input from all team levels.
  • Ensuring regular team and practice events occur outside the office.
  • Communicating with clients to identify needs and evaluate business solutions.
  • Continuously seeking to increase customer satisfaction and deepen relationships.
  • Maintaining lasting client relationships and resolving issues at a senior level.
  • Enforcing performance evaluation and career development programs.
  • Guiding Project Managers on career planning importance.
  • Creating an environment for professional growth.

  • Reviewing status reports of Project Managers.

  • Organizing and staffing project teams effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Applying knowledge of front-end activities.
  • Using Lemartec standard tools and procedures.
  • Developing and implementing project baselines.
  • Demonstrating business and commercial awareness.
  • Experienced in Project Execution Plan development, Continuous Improvement, Schedule Management, Prime Contract/Subcontract formulation, Risk Analysis, Negotiations, Change Control, Cost Trend Programs, Documentation Management, Insurance, and Bonding.
  • Possessing strong oral, written, graphic communication, and presentation skills.
  • Conducting effective meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 15 years of experience as a Senior Project Manager on commercial and/or industrial projects.
  • 5 years of experience as a Project Director.
  • Ability to travel within the U.S.
  • Experience managing projects exceeding $250M in value.
  • Design-build project experience.
  • Experience with budget control and value engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of all design disciplines, specifications, and drawings.
  • Proficiency in planning and scheduling using Primavera P6.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of standard construction accounting software – Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300 CRE, etc.
  • Working knowledge of standard Project Management software – Procore.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and strong work ethic.
  • Preferred Bilingual: English/Spanish.
