About the Role

The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor oversees electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities within a power generation environment. This position leads daily maintenance planning, scheduling, execution, and backlog management for industrial electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data acquisition systems, and related plant equipment. This is an opportunity for an experienced power plant maintenance professional to lead a skilled team in a safety-focused, 24/7 operating environment. The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor will play a key role in improving equipment reliability, strengthening the preventive maintenance program, reducing downtime and repair costs, and developing employees while partnering closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, contractors, and plant leadership. The Electrical and Instrument Supervisor directly supervises non-exempt maintenance personnel and serves as the primary point of contact with Operations for daily, weekly, and monthly work planning. Responsibilities include establishing priorities, resolving scheduling and equipment challenges, monitoring maintenance productivity and costs, supporting planned and unplanned outages, and periodically serving as backup to the Maintenance Manager. Because operations run continuously, this position must participate in scheduled on-call coverage and be available to work weekends, nights, outages, or other assigned shifts based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily, weekly, and monthly electrical and instrumentation maintenance work plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate work priorities, schedule changes, and resource requirements with Operations supervisors and technicians.
  • Serve as the primary Operations contact for routine maintenance planning and backlog management.
  • Supervise non-exempt maintenance employees and provide clear daily work direction.
  • Lead employees by example and promote professional development, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report maintenance productivity, performance, work completion, backlog, and related metrics.
  • Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance planning and execution reports.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of preventive maintenance activities.
  • Plan and oversee electrical and instrumentation work, including job scope, labor requirements, materials, cost estimates, schedules, and execution.
  • Support the maintenance of industrial electrical generation and distribution systems.
  • Support electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems used on industrial process equipment.
  • Support programmable logic control and data acquisition systems.
  • Use technical manuals, vendor resources, and other available information to identify repair procedures and replacement parts.
  • Evaluate current maintenance practices and recommend improvements that increase productivity, reduce downtime, and control labor, repair, and material costs.
  • Work with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and external resources to identify and implement maintenance improvements.
  • Resolve competing priorities within Maintenance and between the Maintenance and Operations departments.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to align routine work planning with the overall maintenance strategy and budget.
  • Serve as backup to the Maintenance Manager when needed.
  • Identify and address safety, environmental, equipment-performance, and workforce concerns.
  • Complete all required annual safety and environmental training.
  • Participate in structured safety programs and initiatives.
  • Conduct safety audits for routine and major maintenance work.
  • Assist with incident and accident investigations.
  • Promote safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible work practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of power plant maintenance experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial electrical generation and distribution systems.
  • Experience with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems for industrial process equipment.
  • Experience with industrial programmable logic controllers, instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems.
  • Demonstrated experience directly supervising non-exempt employees.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, job setup, execution, and backlog management.
  • Ability to estimate the labor, cost, materials, and time required for electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Project management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and work with vendors to identify appropriate repair procedures and equipment parts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience with Maximo or a comparable computerized maintenance management system is preferred.
  • Ability to prepare reports, spreadsheets, timesheets, emails, and maintenance records.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to develop employees and improve team performance.
  • Ability to provide direction to peer supervisors and coordinate work across departments.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain composed, make sound decisions, and lead effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to address performance and disciplinary matters professionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, Operations, Engineering, and other internal partners.
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator and perform physical work while wearing it.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, squat, and climb throughout an industrial work environment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to access multiple levels and industrial equipment areas.
  • Must be able to enter boilers, with or without scaffolding, to conduct inspections and monitor work.
  • May be required to assist with lifting or equipment repairs.
  • Must be able to work safely in an operating industrial power generation environment.
  • Must be available for scheduled on-call assignments and for weekend, night, outage, or other shift coverage as required by operational and equipment conditions.
  • Ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role while upholding Reworld's Values, including contributing to a safe and inclusive workplace, delivering results through trust, and building breakthrough capabilities.
