About the Role
The Data Center team designs and operates sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Facility Technicians operate, monitor, and support physical facilities, including heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control systems. You will inspect, maintain, and repair data center systems, assist senior technicians, read blueprints, and assess system functionality. Additionally, you will develop cost-reduction strategies, improve efficiency, ensure safety standards, and manage performance issues during emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Perform compliance activities for data centers and analyze results globally.
- Ensure regional and global teams comply with project/schedule guidelines and Google design standards.
- Monitor data center systems operations and control site activities to minimize risk.
- Ensure effective response to any system excursions.
- Ensure all sites follow facility, maintenance, and standard programs globally.
- Drive improvements to facility, maintenance, and standard programs.
- Develop strategies to minimize operational costs, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.
- Drive site-level development of programs and initiatives.
- Enhance data center design using subdomain expertise to optimize equipment and operations for next-generation data centers.
Requirements
- Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- 9 years of experience in data center operations or relevant operational experience in non-data center industries.
- Experience managing facilities with strict security requirements.
- Must hold and maintain Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Negative Vetting 2 (NV2).
