About the Role
HDR is seeking a Technical Director - Electrical Engineering to lead the growth, capability, and technical excellence of its Australian Electrical Engineering practice. This senior leadership role involves combining technical expertise with people leadership to mentor engineers, support project delivery, and drive the development of the electrical practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of electrical engineers.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, and succession planning.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
- Build technical capability through mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing.
- Champion employee engagement, wellbeing, and team culture.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across electrical engineering projects.
- Serve as a recognised subject matter expert across LV, MV, and HV electrical systems.
- Support engineers in solving complex technical challenges and making sound engineering decisions.
- Promote consistency, quality, and best practice across project delivery.
- Contribute to technical reviews, design assurance, and quality management processes.
- Maintain and develop engineering standards, tools, and methodologies.
- Support project teams in the successful delivery of electrical engineering projects.
- Collaborate with discipline leaders to deliver integrated multidisciplinary outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Contribute to business development activities, proposals, and strategic pursuits.
- Support the growth and positioning of HDR's Electrical Engineering practice within the market.
