About the Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced AMHP to undertake Mental Health Act assessments during weekends and bank holidays. You will be guaranteed one weekend day shift per month and have the option to take on additional weekday evening assessments. This role provides insight into generic emergency social work within a busy borough.

Responsibilities

• Undertake Mental Health Act assessments that cannot wait until the next working day.
• Assist with Adult Social Care referrals such as No Entries or agreeing to extra care package support when there are no assessments.
• Carry out Mental Health Act assessments during weekday evenings on an ad-hoc basis.

Requirements

• Must be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Must be an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
• Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
• Previous demonstrable experience of managing a varied caseload.
• Experience working with client groups outside of current specialism or ability to demonstrate potential and knowledge.
• Role-appropriate knowledge of relevant legislation affecting out-of-hours social work practice, including the Children Act, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty safeguards, the Human Rights Act, Police and Criminal Evidence Act, and any other relevant legislation.
• Ability to work within legal and procedural requirements.

• Ability to find imaginative solutions.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate reports.
